Position Overview:
My client are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Scientist, Computational Biology to join their growing team. This role is critical to driving research and development efforts by leveraging computational methods to analyze biological data, generate insights, and guide experimental strategies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of computational biology, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of applying computational techniques to solve complex biological problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement computational models and algorithms to analyze large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data.
- Collaborate with experimental biologists to design and interpret experiments, ensuring that computational insights drive experimental strategy and vice versa.
- Integrate diverse data types to build comprehensive models of biological systems and pathways.
- Identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets through advanced data mining and machine learning techniques.
- Present findings and insights to internal and external stakeholders, including scientific collaborators and investors.
- Stay current with the latest developments in computational biology and bioinformatics, and apply new methodologies to ongoing projects.
- Mentor junior scientists and provide guidance on computational approaches and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
- Experience with high-throughput data analysis, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) and other omics data.
- Proficiency with bioinformatics tools and databases, and experience with statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and analyze multi-omics data to generate actionable biological insights.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and concepts to a diverse audience.
- Previous experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company is a plus.
