SUMMARY

The primary objective of this position is to measure, inspect, audit, and report on materials, processes, and products using variable and attribute measuring instruments and techniques to ensure conformance with the applicable drawing requirements while maintaining the company’s quality standards aligned with the QMS.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION: Two-year technical certificate or equivalent experience required

EXPERIENCE: Experience on set-up and maintenance of electronic and/or mechanical test equipment, operating standard equipment, chamber tools, and the ability to apply logic in the analysis of the problems is required.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have experience using electronic and mechanical testing equipment.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret electronic drawings and customer supplied blueprints and drawings and have a basic knowledge of statistical techniques.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of using and referencing military and industry standards
  • Must know the definition of PDCA and understand the team concept.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings and know the definitions of critical, major and minor characteristics.
  • Must have a general knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, working knowledge of GD&T, and must understand the x, y, and z coordinate system.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of basic mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions; be able to solve for x; add and subtract degrees, minutes, and seconds.
  • Basic understanding of statistical concepts needed for sampling inspection and process characterization.

SKILLS: Extensive user of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Access). Must be experienced in the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, including macros/calculations, and must have the ability to analyze, record and present the data in a clear and accurate manner. Must have the ability to perform relevant measurements with knowledge of measurement technology and terminology.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Use inspection planning and sampling tools and perform a product audit by determining the required sample size for lots and pull the required random samples.
  • Inspect and approve incoming, in process, and final materials, confirming to the specifications, conducting mechanical measurement tests and visual inspection, and rejecting and returning nonconforming materials.
  • Inspects in-process and/or finished products by validating specifications and drawings, conducting visual and mechanical measurement testing, returning nonconforming product for rework, and verifying and validating the completed rework.
  • Document inspection results by completing the required travelers (routers) reports and logs on a timely basis while summarizing rework and scrap while inputting the data into the respective database or ERP system.
  • Enter and plot data as well as recognize out-of-control conditions using basic statistical terms and techniques.
  • Select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques by determining the difference between accuracy and precision.
  • Identify/recognize inspection defects and test errors; initiate resolution.
  • Identify and report nonconforming material.
  • Understand lot level traceability based on product, processes and raw material.
  • Accomplishes quality and the organization mission by completing the related results as needed.
