Role Description

The Golf Course Superintendent is a hands-on leadership position reporting to the Club's General Manager. The Superintendent will be responsible for golf course maintenance and renovations, all ground maintenance, and landscaping around the Clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts, including the parking areas. Responsibilities include developing and implementing weekly, monthly, and annual goals and objectives, including but not limited to agronomical programs, budgeting, managing and assisting the crew, record keeping, irrigation, project work, fertilizer & pesticide applications, scouting, water management, and attending committee meetings.

Qualifications


Turf Management:


• Plan and implementation of turf maintenance programs, including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, and pest control.

• Monitor and maintain turf health, ensuring optimal playing conditions on greens, fairways, tees, and roughs throughout the season.

• Oversee aeration, topdressing, and other cultural practices to promote turf health and resilience. Landscaping and


Grounds Maintenance:


• Supervise landscaping activities such as planting, pruning, mulching, and bed maintenance to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the course.

• Manage the upkeep of non-turf areas, including flower beds, shrubbery, trees, and natural areas.


Irrigation System Operation and Maintenance:


• Assist in the operation, repair, and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system to ensure efficient water distribution.

• Monitor soil moisture levels and adjust irrigation schedules accordingly to promote healthy turf growth while conserving water.


Equipment Operation and Maintenance:


• Operate and maintain various golf course maintenance equipment, such as mowers, tractors, aerators, and sprayers, ensuring proper functioning and safety.

• Perform routine equipment inspections, lubrication, and minor repairs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.


Team Leadership and Training:


• Ability and confidence to communicate challenges/issues quickly and accurately with Maintenance Team and Executive Director

• Supervise and train ground maintenance staff in proper turf care techniques, safety protocols, and equipment operation.

• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and professional development among crew members.

• Ability to work well with other department managers and staff.

•Work with the Administration team to ensure all information relating to accounts payable and payroll are turned in and updated promptly

•Develop and maintain specified customer relationships with GM and Board Members and Golf Pro

•Develop and drive a golf employee training program, ensuring the highest level of safety, job performance, and job satisfaction


Project Management:

• Assist in the planning and execution of capital improvement projects, renovations, and course enhancements under the guidance of the Golf Course Superintendent.

• Coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and consultants as needed to accomplish project goals on time and within budget.


• 3-5 years as a Superintendent or First Assistant

• Valid Driver’s License

• Pesticide Applicator License

• Highly motivated individual with attention to detail

• Irrigation experience

• Strong communication skills

• Computer skills with Word, Excel, Outlook or ability to learn

• Spanish speaking a plus
