Position: Production Technician - Level 2

Location: Onsite, Highland Heights, Ohio (Training will initially be remote with travel to various facilities)

Employment Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday (Flexible hours available on weekends)


Job Overview:

The Production Technician II is responsible for troubleshooting, testing, reconditioning, and repairing disk arrays, servers, and other related equipment. This role includes providing occasional phone support to Field Engineers for problem diagnosis and resolution. The Technician may also build, test, and configure servers, laptops, and storage arrays for sales and spare parts to support service contracts. Responsibilities also include loading software, configuring systems for customer orders, and disassembling tested systems into spare parts. Experience with data centers, Dell/EMC, and NetApp is a plus but not required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor resources such as disk, memory, and CPU through in-depth stress testing.
  • Develop and implement technical cross-training plans.
  • Re-qualify and refurbish disk arrays and servers across multiple OEMs.
  • Provide technical support to Field Engineers and sales teams, including problem identification, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair strategies.
  • Research and gather information on specific hardware/software issues to determine root causes and implement solutions.
  • Work and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Assist with new product launches and technical problem resolution.
  • Train other team members and develop technical training courses.
  • Support production areas with various product lines, including entry-level/midrange storage products and network appliances.
  • Assist the planning and procurement group with parts-related queries.
  • Recertify individual and defective parts and provide problem resolution when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of tested and untested products.
  • Maintain and manage test equipment.
  • Disassemble tested systems into spare parts and manage tagging and bagging of tested spares.
  • Participate in an after-hours rotation for parts procurement as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Associate degree, High School Diploma, or GED required.
  • Ability to tackle new technical problems and equipment.
  • Proficient in software imaging packages such as Symantec Ghost, Acronis, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Server & Windows products.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Unix & Red Hat, A+, Server, Storage & Network + certifications, CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, MCP, and CLI.
  • Working knowledge of disk storage hardware and software products is preferred.


Additional Details:

  • Flexible working hours for weekend coverage (1-5 pm).
  • On-call availability is optional, with additional pay for participation.
  • Initial training will be remote, with travel to different locations for hands-on training.
  • Full-time, onsite position starting February 1st, following the remote training period.
