The Controller will manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting group, including accurate and timely processing of A/P, A/R and project accounting. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of project cost accounting and develop partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure project success. Responsibilities:
- Manage the general accounting work, including AR/AP, job costing and GL postings for projects.
- Prepare and compile timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial results.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and prepare necessary filings.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity to support the agency’s financial stability.
- Implement cash flow projections and manage working capital effectively.
- Analyze project cost and profitability and ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with project budgets to maximize positive cash flow.
- Manage the preparation of the annual tax return process, working with our third-party tax accountants.
- Maintain and improve financial software systems and tools.
- Streamline financial processes and enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Oversee and support a team of financial professionals to create an environment of trust and productivity.
- Foster a culture of financial responsibility and accountability.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in progressively responsible accounting roles in the advertising, media, or similar industry preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- Strong knowledge of project cost control, percentage of completion accounting and expense recognition.
- Proficient with Advantage®, Microsoft Dynamics, Mediaocean® or related software experience a plus.
- Solid leadership skills and the ability to interface with and collaborate with senior executive management.
- Skilled problem solver with a knack for working with people to achieve success.
- Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently in a fast-changing and evolving service line.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to roll up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity.
