Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will be self-motivated and have demonstrated analytical, problem solving and communication skills. Along with a strong background in accounting and financial reporting, attention to detail and the ability to work well in a fast paced, team environment. A real estate financial accounting background is required. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.


Responsibilities:

  • Review and provide comprehensive financial reports and operational performance updates to executive management team on a periodic basis.
  • Manage the preparation of annual budgets for operating and ownership entities.
  • Develop and maintain various operating financial forecasts, updating regularly to reflect changing conditions and performance.
  • Oversight and management of year-end tax reporting and compliance, including review of all tax returns and financial statements for operating and ownership entities, in coordination with an outside CPA firm.
  • Assist in evaluating coverage and premium options for all lines of insurance coverage for operating and ownership entities, including General Liability, Umbrella, Property, Environmental Liability, Directors and Officers Liability coverage, etc. in coordination with an outside insurance consultant. Periodically review claim activity.
  • Cash management responsibilities include analysis of short and long-term cash requirements, and management of short-term liquidity investments. Manage preparation of analyses of cash available/required and calculations necessary for periodic distributions from both operating and ownership entities.
  • Function as a key advisor/resource for the CEO, CFO and executive management team by, providing information and analyses to support operational and strategic decision making and business development.
  • Assist, CEO, CFO and executive management team with special assignments as needed.


Requirements

1.    CPA certification. 

2.    At least 5 to 7 years of experience in real estate accounting, bachelor’s degree in accounting a plus.

3.    Construction accounting experience beneficial

4.    Position located in Virginia Beach

  1. Ability to articulate thoughts, solutions, ideas and strategies effectively in both written and verbal form.
  2. Self-motivated, hands-on accountant, who is detail oriented, analytical, and has a strong working knowledge of multi-family real estate financial, management, and operating issues.
  3. Strong Proficiency in Excel with deep understanding of financial modeling.
  4. Strong, proactive problem solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to directly address multiple priorities simultaneously, while meeting deadlines.
  5. Experience with Real Page and Timberline software is preferred
  6. Self-motivated, hands-on accountant, who is detail oriented, analytical, and has a strong working knowledge of multi-family real estate financial, management, and operating issues.
