The Logistics Manager will oversee the efficient and effective movement of goods, from procurement to distribution. This role is crucial for ensuring that our supply chain operations run smoothly and that our customers receive their orders on time. Supervisory Responsibilities:

Logistics team

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

·        Logistics Strategy: Develop and implement short- and long-term logistics strategies aligned to Empire’s business scale expansion in 3-5 years to ensure TCO efficient transportation and storage of goods. This includes but not limited to current and future states lanes and modes analysis, freight market developments, geopolitical tensions, economic shifts, environmental regulations and carrier capacity management. Additionally, a contingency plan for alternatives when current lanes and/or modes encounter stoppage.

 

·        Transportation Management: Work alongside operation leaders on the selection of carriers and negotiate transportation rates to optimize costs. Plan, coordinate and monitor all international and domestic freight movement. 

 

·        Teamwork - Collaborates and coordinates activities functionally to provide seamless and efficient logistics support to distribution centers. 

 

·        Team Leadership: Carry out essential leadership responsibilities such as managing, developing, and mentoring assigned team members. Set annual goals, development plan, provide coaching and address performance issues. 

 

·        Inspires Culture of Relentless Effort: Build a culture which promotes a “do what it takes” mentality for Logistics team.

 

·        Process Governance and Improvement: Develop, maintain and update logistics SOP and work instructions and other documents /records as needed. Initiate, implement, and enforce new policies and procedures as necessary. Identify and drive process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

 

·        KPI Management - Identify, implement and track appropriate KPI metrics to monitor logistics operational performance and apply countermeasures as needed.

 

·        Vendor Management: Build and maintain relationships with freight forwarders and transport partners to ensure timely delivery on time every time. Communicate and problem-solving with vendors and escalate the issues when needed.

 

·        Compliance: Ensure all logistics activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

 

·        Budget Management: Prepare and manage the logistics budget, including cost forecasting and financial reporting.

 

·        Reporting: Generate regular reports on logistics performance metrics, analyze data and provide actionable insights.

 

·        Contract Negotiation and Management: Experience in SaaS agreement negotiation including Master Service Agreement (MSA) and statement of Work (SOW).

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

·        Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

·        Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

·        Skills:

  • Strong understanding of logistics and inventory management software (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations in the logistics industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP).
  • Experience with international logistics and import/export regulations.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
