Our client has an immediate need for a Senior Construction Project Manager, who is responsible for planning, executing, controlling, and coordinating internal resources and external consultants and contractors in activities associated with capital construction projects


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Strong commitment to safety and be able to act in a leadership role in this area
  • Ability to perform job duties while adhering to the highest ethical standards
  • Ability to understand and work within NERC/FERC standards
  • Ability to follow stringent security rules, regulations and protocols
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to understand Primavera P6
  • Ability to analyze and develop strategies to efficiently schedule projects
  • Must be comfortable with change and complexity in dynamic environments
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, and manage the work of others
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to present in a professional manner and represent the company image
  • Strong contract administration and change control skills
  • Strong negotiating skills

Responsibilities:

  • Work with project sponsor and project team to ensure clear scope definition
  • Clarify the limitations or parameters of the project and clearly identify any aspects that are not to be included
  • Develop and implement project execution plans on a level appropriate for the phase of the project
  • Identify project planning and execution risks
  • Complete risk management plan and register; monitor risks as the project progresses.
  • Lead development of budgetary estimating with input from key stakeholders and in accordance with best industry practices (AACE)
  • Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project
  • Sequence activities and develop a high-level schedule for project completion that effectively allocates resources to activities
  • As the project progresses through the decision gate process, create a more detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
  • Work with Procurement and Supply Chain to plan contracting and purchasing activities, including long-lead equipment and materials
  • Develop budget and forecasts, evaluate cost estimates as developed internally and by consultants
  • Manage and monitor changes, control risks
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Communicate budget/forecast/cash flow variances clearly and in a timely manner
  • Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures
  • Monitor forecasts and spending projections. Report actual cash flow and forecasted spend variances to management on a regular basis (monthly/ bi-monthly)
  • Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation as outlined in Capital Project Management Manual and Capital Planning Process
  • Perform closeout tasks as defined in policy and procedures
  • Document lessons learned, assemble and organize project documentation for reference on future projects
