Inside Sales Engineer for Compressed Air

Total Equipment Company, a DXPE Company, is a leading pump and air compressor sales and service provider since 1982 for Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. We are looking for an application engineer with knowledge in compressed air to support outside salesperson(s) by providing quotations, taking phone calls, internet orders, and coordinating deliveries. An application engineer should be comfortable multi-tasking, making and receiving numerous calls per day, working with channel partners, qualifying prospects, working with the outside sales team, creating proposals and processing orders. Salary will be fair and negotiable depending on experience.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide customer service, sales, & technical support to sales team & customers
  • Promote & encourage "Profit Management" to ensure a profitable future for the company
  • Understand & implement policy to achieve both customer & company goals
  • Work closely with sales, fabrication & vendors to facilitate the sales effort & meet customer requirements
  • Evaluate customer bid requirements, specifications, & other pertinent data
  • Prepare proposals using vendor software, sales catalogs & cost estimates according to technical and performance requirements
  • Aid in the design & development of equipment & systems, & redesign of existing systems
  • Facilitate prompt remedy of customer technical problems, complaints & failures
  • Maintain organization of order files, monitor in-house orders & assist sales & fabrication with project related questions



Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Preferred knowledge of compressed air systems and components, but not required
  • Must be able to work independently to achieve targeted results
  • Well-organized & self-motivated
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills
  • Effective negotiating skills
  • Project management experience and team work skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience with Epicor Prophet 21 ERP software preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering preferred
