**Job Responsibilities: **


Manage and oversee engineering design activities for transmission projects to effectively meet client needs. Responsible for daily work assignments on specific projects, performing design tasks using specialized software, reviewing technical drawings, and addressing design issues as needed.


**Position Overview: **


Conduct analysis, design, inspection, and related tasks for physical/civil utility systems in substations, applying engineering principles and expertise in structural construction. Responsible for overseeing Substation project design from initial stages through construction and commissioning.


**Education & Qualifications: **


- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.

- Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required.

- Ability to obtain PE certification in multiple states is required.


**Experience: **


-Minimum of ten (10) years of direct experience in developing, designing, engineering, and constructing Substation projects.

-Preference given to those with experience in transmission design.

-At least two (2) years of leadership experience.


**Skills and Competencies: **


• Requires extensive knowledge in substation design, exceptional communication and project management abilities, proactive problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring design quality through value engineering.

• Proficiency in technical aspects such as substation site civil design, grading and physical layout design, structural calculations for buses, grounding, and foundations is essential.

• Familiarity with industry standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI is required.

• Collaboration with various teams is necessary to ensure project success. Responsible for managing assigned projects, including delivering progress updates, addressing issues, and mitigating risks in meetings with diverse management levels.

• Supervision of a team of engineering professionals as a project leader, making independent decisions without regular technical oversight.

• Results-oriented with strong organizational skills, adept at delegation, conflict resolution, and team building.

• Proficient in software including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD Inventor, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam (preferred), grading software, and L-Pile.


**Work Environment: **


- Flexible, hybrid work schedule. General office conditions with on-site inspection duties involving occasional overnight travel.

- Occasional travel for meetings with clients, vendors, and equipment suppliers may be required.

- Work outside regular hours may be necessary.

- Must have a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.


**Key Responsibilities: **


- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to design substation projects.

- Work closely with other Power Delivery departments, including Transmission Engineering and Protection & Control (P&C) Engineering.

- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring detailed design packages adhere to engineering standards and safety codes for technical staff, drafters, clients, and contractors.

- Deliver precise and comprehensive designs that meet industry standards, specifications, and best engineering practices for optimal constructability.

- Resolve site issues, attend site meetings, and conduct inspections during project construction phases.

- Support technical and economic evaluations of substation design studies.

- Oversee calculations, drawings, specifications, and perform condition assessments and feasibility studies.

- Prepare proposals including technical scope, effort levels, and cost estimates.

- Create and revise engineering details and drawings as needed.

- Conduct economic and operational feasibility studies and evaluate alternative systems, equipment, materials, or engineering methods.

- Compile input data for computerized engineering solutions.

- Analyze, design, and develop standard details, drawings, specifications, and transmission/substation facilities, structures, and foundations.

- Assist with detailed technical analysis, planning studies, and operational studies.

- Generate progress reports, compliance documentation, and maintain records of transmission technical documents and drawings.

- Mentor and provide guidance to other Engineering Professionals.

- Demonstrate an entrepreneurial drive, taking leadership initiatives to promote United Utility's expertise in the Power and T&D sector locally.

- Maintain close coordination with relevant United Utility Business Units and Practices to explore cross-selling and cross-staffing opportunities.

- Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

- Willingness to travel up to 20% within North America.
