Job Summary: The Oracle Exadata DBA will be responsible for the implementation, support, and maintenance of Oracle databases on the Exadata platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Oracle RDBMS with a specific focus on performance tuning and optimization on the Exadata database machine.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Exadata database machines and software.
  • Perform database performance tuning and monitoring to ensure optimal efficiency and reliability.
  • Implement and manage Exadata-specific features such as Smart Scan, Hybrid Columnar Compression, and Storage Indexes.
  • Work closely with application developers and architects to optimize SQL statements and database design for Exadata.
  • Conduct regular system checks and performance reviews to anticipate and mitigate potential issues.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for Exadata environments.
  • Ensure database security by managing user access and privileges.
  • Patch and upgrade databases regularly to maintain support and compliance.
  • Provide support for database issues and outages, including on-call after-hours support as needed.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Train and mentor junior DBAs and other team members on Exadata best practices.
  • Collaborate with network and storage teams to ensure compatibility and performance between systems.
  • Keep abreast of new Exadata features and technologies and recommend their implementation where beneficial.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience as an Oracle DBA, with at least 2 years focused on Exadata.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and software stack.
  • Proficient in SQL and PL/SQL programming for performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and Data Guard.
  • Familiarity with database scripting and automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Exadata Certification is highly preferred.
