Job Summary:

The Oracle Exadata Database Administrator will be responsible for the implementation, support, and maintenance of Oracle databases on the Exadata platform.

This role requires a strong background in Oracle RDBMS, with a focus on performance tuning and optimization on the Exadata database machine.


Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Exadata database machines and software.
Perform database performance tuning and monitoring to ensure optimal efficiency and reliability.
Implement and manage Exadata-specific features such as Smart Scan, Hybrid Columnar Compression, and Storage Indexes.
Work closely with application developers and architects to optimize SQL statements and database design for Exadata.
Conduct regular system checks and performance reviews to anticipate and mitigate potential issues.
Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for Exadata environments.
Ensure database security by managing user access and privileges.
Patch and upgrade databases regularly to maintain support and compliance.
Provide support for database issues and outages, including on-call after-hours support as needed.
Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Train and mentor junior DBAs and other team members on Exadata best practices.
Collaborate with network and storage teams to ensure compatibility and performance between systems.
Keep abreast of new Exadata features and technologies and recommend their implementation where beneficial.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience as an Oracle DBA, with at least 2 years focused on Exadata.
Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and software stack.
Proficient in SQL and PL/SQL programming for performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and Data Guard.
Familiarity with database scripting and automation tools.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Exadata Certification is highly preferred.
