R&D Chemist

Part-Time Consulting Role

ONSITE IN GRAND RAPIDS, MIGHIGAN

$40-45 an hour

1-2 years of experience



OVERVIEW:

The individual performs method development/validation work, protocol and report writing, sample analysis and troubleshooting analytical issues for developmental products.



Essential Job Duties:

· Complete method validation and assist as needed on special projects

· Perform, record and report the results of chemical tests for raw material, in-process and finished products by using various instruments such as HPLC, GC, GC/MS, FT-IR, and UV.

· Participate in analytical method development and execute method validation for pharmaceutical products.

· Support formulation studies via timely analytical assay data.

· Incorporate regulatory compliance of cGMP/GLP standards into SOPs, protocols and LTMs.


Education and Required Licenses or Certifications:

· Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or relevant scientific degree.


Years of Experience (# of years and type of experience)

· 2+ years of work experience in performing various wet chemistry tests, using UV/VIS & pH meters.



Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to understand and perform analysis per written methods and procedures.
  • Ability to accurately record experimental information.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally.
  • Ability to perform basic and advanced mathematical operations used in chemical analysis calculations.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Familiarity with HPLC, GC, and FTIR is preferred
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs, in the pharmaceutical industry, is preferred.



Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:

  1. Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, whether sitting or standing, and be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  2. Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  3. Communicate and exchange information with team members and other internal personnel and must be able to effectively communicate accurate information with external contacts.
  4. Occasionally move and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds.
  5. Occasionally climb stairs, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach in any direction including above the shoulder to access materials and/or documentation.
