General Manager of Concrete

We are looking for a General Manager to provide leadership focusing on concrete operations. The ideal candidate will develop and promote operational excellence while supporting project execution and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Concrete team and trade staff.
  • Ensure integration of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) principles to strive for zero incidents across all teams.
  • Develop the Concrete Division business plan and contingency plans in alignment with the broader business unit strategy.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement the annual Profit Plan and establish processes for achieving key goals.
  • Maintain strict compliance with safety, ethics, and corporate policies throughout all projects.
  • Build internal networks to maximize contribution to prime projects and client relationships.
  • Coordinate with Preconstruction departments to leverage trade expertise and strengthen project delivery.
  • Provide leadership in risk evaluation, contract negotiations, and pricing decisions in collaboration with the General Manager.
  • Drive operational excellence and ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • Establish and maintain procedures to protect financial and physical assets, including overseeing financial reporting and managing risks.
  • Plan, forecast, and manage General & Administrative (G&A) expenses for the business unit.
  • Lead the strategy for staff progression, succession planning, and performance evaluation in collaboration with HR.
  • Engage in community and professional organizations to enhance visibility and connections.
  • Implement relevant tools and processes to streamline operations and drive efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Concrete construction
  • Strong leadership experience in managing self-perform operations, particularly in concrete-focused projects.
  • Expertise in safety, compliance, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to develop business strategies, manage budgets, and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with tools and processes related to operational management, such as SAP and Lean principles.
