Quality and Safety Engineer

Overview:
The Quality and Safety Engineer ensures that we provide quality products to our customers, minimize scrap, and maintain a safe working environment for our Production Associates. This person will be responsible for ISO certifications at our facility. They work closely with engineers and plant management to ensure a seamless flow of quality products to our customers. The Quality and Safety Engineer ensures our Quality Control Program and Safety Programs are being performed and documented.

- Quality products shipped to our customers (Metrics: Returns, Customer feedback / Surveys)
- ISO Certification
- No workplace safety accidents
- Minimized scrap: recycled product (parking lot)
- Successful Safety Reviews by Lilly and SMG
- Positive 360 Degree Survey results.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline: Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, or a related degree.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations (OSHA, ANSI, etc.).
- Experience with quality control and statistical process control.
- Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, TS16949, etc.).
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
General Duties:
- Conduct quality audits and inspections to assess product and process compliance.
- Successful implementation of Quality Control Management System
- Successful implementation of Safety Management Program
- Coordinates with SMG (Safety Management Group) 3rd Party Contractor
- Analyze quality data to identify trends and root causes of defects.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product quality and process efficiency.
- Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation and records.
- Stay updated on industry quality standards and regulations
- Test material properties.
- Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
- Develop and implement safety programs and policies.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees.
- Conduct safety risk assessments and prepare safety reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote a safety culture.
- Develop “Standard Operating Procedures” (SOPs) for the various work cells using text, images, and video.
- Utilize power tools and hand tools, forklift and other equipment.
- Solves technical problems either individually or through collaboration / subcontracting.
- Assists in successfully taking the new products to market with high quality standards.
- Be a great team player and contributor within the office.
- Maintain office area clean and organized.
- Work with management to prioritize projects on macro level; ability to prioritize individual tasks on your own.
- Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner.
- Work well with the Production Associates, pitch in where needed. Spend part of time on the production floor assembling the equipment you designed to better understand how the components come together.
- Work independently as well as take direction and collaborate with others.
