POSITION SUMMARY

The Product Design Engineering Manager is responsible for leading conception, execution and launch of Technical Fabric, Mining Ventilation and Industrial Ventilation products for ABC Industries along with making viable and sustainable improvements to current ABC products. In this role, they oversee product and project timelines while managing budgetary and time constraints with stakeholders to successfully deliver new and improved products to the market. This position manages communication and coordination with different types of engineers, designers and other functional individuals working on a project. Leadership is an absolute to successfully thrive in this role.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Leadership Responsibilities Activities · Execute all new product development and product revisions within the requirements detailed in ISO9001 (Quality Management System). · Manage the product development process for compliance to government standards, customer requirements and specifications, engineering and manufacturing principles, and company standards to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and profitability expectations. Ensures compliance to all design guidelines and best practices. · Manage product changes/releases through the change control process to ensure accurate and timely content within program expectations. Organize and facilitate design opportunity meetings and critical design review meetings. · Drive project accountability within the entire value stream through ABC’s least waste way project planning process (LWWPP). · Investigate the feasibility of applying current and new scientific principles and concepts to products, for improved performance and competitive advantage. · Maintain functional knowledge of the application and use of tools and equipment for the ABC business segments, Industrial Textiles, Mining Ventilation, Industrial Ventilation and RigiDuct fabrication and assembly. · Provide direct supervision of responsibilities and activities of employees in the Engineering function, including but not limited to Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Technician, CAD designer, and Internship roles. · Prepare business cases to justify projects based on cost and time/benefit analysis.

· Actively participate in opportunity management and prioritization planning.

· Lead the organization in identifying the resources and expertise needed for this area of responsibility to be

successful.

· Develop and maintain knowledge of business practices and company financial systems (EG: Sage and Power

BI).

· Communicate business objectives and financial performance to assigned area(s) & team members through

ABC’s policy deployment process.

· Actively develop team members through coaching and feedback via weekly one on ones and during daily

interactions.

· Provide counsel to team members on employee issues or administrative procedures

· Monitor employee progress on career development plans

· Define requirements for training tools and programs for engineering staff

· Monitor and adhere to budgets including manpower, material, and testing expenses.

· Model ABC Industries leadership behaviors


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field

· Minimum 5 years of experience in product design engineering

· Knowledge of 6-sigma, ISO, product testing, DOE

· Strong understanding of the product development process

· Proficient with relevant software applications and tools (AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc.)

· Competency in DFMEA and GD&T

· Experience collaborating with internal and external departments and stakeholders

· Prior experience with presenting new projects and ideas to individuals of varying technical comprehension in a professional setting


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· This position will require being seated at a desk or standing for 8+ hours a day. An individual will occasionally lift items over 10 lbs. as needed, and rarely lift an item over 30lbs.

· Be able to travel 10%-15% as needed.
