Position: Mainframe Systems Administrator (Remote, Overnight Shift)

Are you an experienced Mainframe Systems Administrator with strong troubleshooting skills and a passion for working in high-performance environments? Join our team to support and maintain mission-critical IT infrastructure during overnight shifts.

Key Highlights

  • Overnight shifts (8 hours/day) between 6 PM and 6 AM, flexible with both schedule options:
  • Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Friday.
  • 100% remote.

Primary Responsibilities

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor IT infrastructure, applications, and supporting technologies for performance and reliability.
  • Provide real-time monitoring of Mainframe and Distributed systems to proactively detect and resolve issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems, leveraging tools like system dumps and trace analysis.

Mainframe Administration

  • Manage CA7, CICS, DB2, JCL, COBOL, and ZOS systems.
  • Create and modify job schedules, monitor scheduler queues, and update base calendars.
  • Perform system administration tasks including HSM monitoring, ICF catalog management, and SAN operations.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and maintain operational manuals, policies, and procedures for system maintenance and compliance.
  • Ensure changes and fixes adhere to established operational procedures.
  • Provide on-call support for critical issues and participate in disaster recovery exercises.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement new tools and technologies.
  • Assist with audit requests and compliance reviews for IT operations.
  • Contribute to SLA establishment and performance monitoring.

Required Skills & Expertise

Mainframe Skills (75%)

  • Proficiency in CA7, CICS, DB2, JCL, and ZOS.
  • Knowledge of MVS Utilities, REXX, CLIST, VSAM, and DFSMS concepts.
  • Experience with network protocols like TCP/IP, VTAM, and network topology.

Additional Technologies (25%)

  • Hands-on experience with Java, JavaScript, SQL, UNIX, and AWS.

General Skills

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve critical issues under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adaptable to change and capable of coaching less experienced staff.
