We are seeking an experienced risk management leader to oversee our global risk analyst team and drive the long-term strategy for our risk management organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations or business intelligence, particularly within eCommerce or digital marketing. Responsibilities include evaluating and enhancing risk monitoring rules, analyzing fraud trends, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop effective risk mitigation strategies. Strong communication, analytical skills, and proficiency in Tableau and SQL are essential. The role also involves setting goals for team members and fostering a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring outstanding customer experiences.


RESPONSIBILITIES FOR RISK MANAGER:

  • Leadership and Strategy

Vision Setting: Establish a clear long-term vision for the risk management team. This could involve outlining specific goals, aligning them with Samsung’s overall business objectives, and ensuring buy-in from all levels of the organization.

Goal Setting: Set measurable performance indicators for risk analysts and program managers, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Risk Monitoring and Assessment

Assessment of Rules: Regularly review and enhance risk monitoring rules. Implement a feedback loop to track the effectiveness of adjustments and ensure ongoing improvement in fraud detection.

Fraud Trend Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of fraud trends to identify patterns and emerging threats. Use this data to refine risk management strategies and inform stakeholders.

  • Collaboration and Cross-Functional Partnership

Stakeholder Engagement: Actively partner with operations, product, engineering, and vendor teams to design and refine risk management programs. Foster open communication channels to encourage collaboration and ensure all perspectives are considered.

Weekly Risk Assessment Meetings: Facilitate these meetings to promote transparency and gather insights. Use these sessions to identify and prioritize areas for improvement.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making

Continuous Evaluation: Utilize data analysis and modeling to assess risk factors on Samsung’s platform. This will help in developing targeted strategies that effectively mitigate risks across various channels.

Mitigation Strategies: Create tailored risk mitigation strategies for different digital channels, ensuring they align with overall business goals while enhancing customer experience.

  • Customer Experience Focus

Optimize Risk/Return Tradeoffs: Identify opportunities to balance risk management with outstanding customer service. This might include developing flexible strategies that minimize friction for genuine customers while effectively mitigating fraud.

  • Performance Monitoring

Metrics and Reporting: Implement robust reporting mechanisms to track the performance of risk management initiatives. Share insights with stakeholders to demonstrate impact and guide future decisions.

  • Continuous Improvement

Feedback Mechanisms: Establish channels for receiving feedback from stakeholders, customers, and team members. Use this information to iterate on processes and strategies.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR RISK MANAGER:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Professional Experience: Over 5 years of hands-on experience in operations or business intelligence.
  • Industry Expertise: Proven experience in eCommerce and/or Digital Marketing environments.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR RISK MANAGER:

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Expertise in Tableau for building reports and visualizations, or experience with similar business intelligence tools.
  • Proficient in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Industry Expertise: Extensive experience in eCommerce, including insights into consumer behavior, digital marketing strategies, and platform optimization.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a knack for presenting data clearly and effectively.
  • Team Management: Experience in managing teams across diverse global regions.
  • People Management: Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and develop team members to achieve their full potential.
