Manufacturing Engineering Manager

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will serve as the leader for manufacturing engineering and facilities management functions. The Engineering Manager will set high standards for operational performance and align people, principles, and processes to drive the organization towards excellence in safety, quality, productivity, delivery, cost, environmental protection, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. This position is directly responsible for the development and implementation of new assembly processes, process product quotations, streamlining workflows, developing lean plant layouts, identifying and implementing cost reduction, improving quality and led all facility and equipment maintenance requirements. Success in this position requires a broad mix of technical knowledge, lean manufacturing skills, business acumen, and the ability to lead high performing teams to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and mentor manufacturing engineering and maintenance teams to ensure objectives are achieved.
* Develop and lead the execution of lean manufacturing strategies as it pertains to facilities, equipment processes, packaging, and material handling capabilities.
* Develop process equipment and labor cost estimates for new and existing processes to support Sales department regarding customer RFQ business opportunities.
* Lead the engineering effort to translate customer requirements from the initial quote stage through qualification and implementation of robust production processes.
* Coordinate external process equipment development with 3rd party partners.
* Lead and direct the activities of the Tooling / Fixture / Equipment design, acquisition, repair, and refurbishment.
* Lead the integration of new products into production utilizing APQP process.
* Provide leadership and technical support/assistance to facilities maintenance department.
* Identify, lead, and manage cost reduction projects with the technical team.
* Develop methods for creating an organized, clean, high performance focused factory.
* Recommend the acquisition of new equipment or modifications to meet the process and production needs of the business.
* Interact with customers and vendors to facilitate the flow of information to support the development of work products.
* Collaborate with other key managers in production, quality, sales, and materials.
* Develop and utilize performance metrics for all areas of direct responsibility.
* Plan for manufacturing growth as dictated by the growth of our business.
* Conduct shop floor problem analysis, propose solutions, simulations, and execute.
* Develop and document long range resource planning to accommodate growth and reduce operating costs.
* Use performance data to analyze and make recommendations to strengthen production performance.
* Direct use of lean and six sigma tools to ensure high quality, cost effective, timely implementations.
Minimum Qualifications
* Manufacturing equipment design, maintenance, and improvement experience.
* Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing or other recognized operational excellence or process improvement methodology in a manufacturing environment.
* Demonstrated skills and experience improving product quality and consistency in internal operations and in external customers' applications.
* Able to analyze problems, apply critical thinking, and find creative solutions.
* Experience leading and developing high performing teams.
* A solid history of meeting and exceeding expected results in past positions.
* Must be self-motivated, have a sense of urgency, and quickly take personal responsibility to drive improvements.
* Be a collaborative team player, understand team dynamics, able to assemble, lead, and motivate effective teams at all levels of the organization.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferable Qualifications
* BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial engineering.
* A minimum of 7-10 years of experience with at least 2-3 leading manufacturing and maintenance teams.
* Lean Six Sigma training.
* OSHA / Safety Process Design Application
(ADA) Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of maintenance equipment and tools. Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty pounds frequently.
Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information related to administrative duties.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control, and confidence using correct English and well-modulated voice.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques related to administrative and clerical duties; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and follow verbal and written instruction.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add, subtract, multiply and divide figures; determine percentages; determine time weight.
Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. (Hearing - perceiving nature of sounds by ear)
