Our organization is dedicated to serving the diverse population of New York City by providing crucial services to children, youth, families, homeless individuals, and older adults throughout Manhattan and beyond.

Program Overview:
The Baxter Safe Haven offers transitional housing for 75 adults experiencing homelessness, aiming to assist them in securing permanent housing. Our comprehensive services include case management, health care, counseling, group activities, meals, and around-the-clock security.

Role Summary:
Join our interdisciplinary team to support residents of the Baxter Safe Haven in transitioning to permanent housing.

Schedule:
We offer flexible schedules from Sunday to Thursday, or Tuesday to Saturday, with morning or afternoon shifts.

Remuneration:
Competitive salary ranging from $36,076 to $45,095Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
  • Conduct assessments for housing eligibility.
  • Assist clients in completing housing applications.
  • Coach clients for housing interviews.
  • Establish connections with housing programs and landlords.
  • Maintain listings of affordable housing options.
  • Collaborate with Outreach teams for housing placement.
  • Provide workshops and sessions on housing skills.
  • Monitor client progress in securing housing.
  • Support clients in achieving self-sufficiency.
  • Set goals, action plans, and assess progress with clients.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client services.
  • Advocate for clients facing obstacles.
  • Establish professional boundaries with a diverse population.
  • Respond effectively in crisis situations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • Associate degree Required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Experience working with homeless adults preferred
  • Experience with mental illness and substance use disorders preferred
  • Prior experience in transitional or supportive housing preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented abilities
  • Team player mindset

Computer Skills:

The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Knowledge of databases such as AWARDS or CARES is a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Escort clients to interviews when necessary
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs
Work Environment
  • Primarily indoor office environment
  • Occasional community visits
  • Visits to clients in dorms
