About the Indiana Management Performance Hub (MPH):

The Management Performance Hub (MPH) offers customized analytics solutions to tackle complex management and policy questions, leading to improved outcomes for Hoosiers. We collaborate with state agencies to harness data in innovative ways, enabling data-driven decision-making and informed policy development.

Salary:

Salary is based on education and job experience.

Role Overview:

The Deputy Director of Enterprise Solutions plays a vital role in providing leadership to deliver enterprise data solutions for the State of Indiana. You will unlock the potential of state data by seeking insights, innovation, and enhanced efficiency. Managing data scientists and data engineers, you will navigate between different areas effortlessly to address challenges and provide solutions. We are looking for someone who is driven by asking "why" and possesses a profound understanding of "how" the organization and its partners function. You will be accountable for offering data expertise and technical support across all stages of project implementation, prioritizing projects that are on track in terms of budget, timing, and collaboration.

This is an executive position that mandates a minimum of 10 years of end-to-end experience in project delivery. 8 years of proven experience can substitute for a bachelor's degree, although a master's degree is preferred.

A Day in the Life:
  • Review and assess organizational effectiveness, set goals, and engage in strategic planning to make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Develop and coordinate plans, policies, resources, mission, goals, vision, and expectations for the agency or program.
  • Offer guidance to agencies and the public on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage subordinate personnel, including hiring, workload allocation, task delegation, training, performance monitoring, and evaluation, and initiating corrective actions when necessary.
  • Monitor the agency or program's budget, including revenues, expenses, and budget forecasts.
  • Engage with the press and other media outlets, addressing media queries or requests in an appropriate public relations manner.
  • Collaborate with other government officials on planning matters (federal and/or state agency directors, etc.).
  • Coordinate, review, and evaluate the application of suitable controls and standards for the agency.

What You'll Need for Success:
  • Thorough understanding of agency and/or organizational program(s) and business procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of State programs, resources, public policy, and program evaluation.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate program outcomes.
  • Capability to initiate and maintain strong relationships with key public and private sector leaders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of assessing information accuracy and relevance, utilizing sound judgment to generate, assess, and propose alternatives and recommendations.
  • Effective communication with internal and external customers, assessing needs, offering support, resolving issues, and meeting expectations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities to establish relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels.
  • Make informed, objective decisions, understanding the impact and consequences of choices.
  • Identify issues accurately, evaluate information validity and relevance, and apply sound judgment to generate, assess, and provide alternatives and recommendations.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may involve directly supervising one or more team members.
