Amazon Business, Industrial, and Scientific Supplies (BISS) Team is seeking a Senior Category Merchant Manager (CMM) with a customer-centric mindset to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the 3rd party marketplace. This role offers a unique chance to take ownership of a significant part of a rapidly growing category P&L, while also spearheading large-scale, high-visibility projects across various internal teams.

The ideal candidate should be exceptionally organized with a proven track record in successful project management. A day in the life of a CSM involves balancing operational responsibilities, driving strategic initiatives, collaborating with the selling partner organization, and working closely with category teams.

The successful individual will be analytical, enthusiastic, self-motivated, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and possess strong communication skills, along with the ability to navigate ambiguity and influence employees at all levels within the organization.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Category Merchant Manager:

  • Category strategy and ownership: Collaborate closely with leadership to devise plans and business strategies, enhance customer experience, and drive growth through timely analysis and strategic actions.
  • Business Development: Partner with Marketplace teams to recruit strategic sellers and boost sales in new categories.
  • Project Management: Lead diverse projects impacting BISS, Amazon Business, and the broader US business.
  • Customer Experience: Innovate with sellers to optimize customer experience across the BISS 3P business.

A typical day in the role includes:

  • Acting as the 'business owner' for assigned categories, possessing a deep understanding of internal and external factors influencing the business.
  • Understanding customer needs and leveraging that knowledge to enhance site features for an exceptional shopping experience.
  • Performing financial analysis to meet revenue and profitability targets, devising business plans for new opportunities, and executing project plans.
  • Coordinating cross-functional teams, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and meeting deadlines for high-visibility projects.

About the Team: The BISS category at Amazon leads the way in delivering exceptional selection, convenience, and value to Amazon Business customers and consumers across the US. A significant growth driver for Amazon, the BISS category serves a diverse customer base that includes professionals from various fields such as healthcare, education, and small business owners.

We are open to candidates working from either Arlington, VA, USA, or Seattle, WA, USA.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of professional experience influencing internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to articulate complex ideas effectively
  • Strong business judgment and a pragmatic approach to delivering results
  • Strong analytical abilities, proficiency with Excel and data analysis
  • Operates as a team player, maintains a positive attitude, and enjoys a fun work environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MBA or related Master's degree
  • P&L responsibility and experience delivering strong financial results
  • Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects, excellent analytical and data-mining skills
  • Ability to think and react in a fast-paced environment, creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and teams, proficiency in business statistics and data analytics
  • Basic SQL Proficiency
