Job Description

This position performs a variety of manual tasks in support of the coatings application and production process. Responsibilities may include lifting and loading items, touching up painted parts, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and performing other general tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Performing a variety of manual labor associated tasks with the coating application and production processes
  • Loading and unloading materials, moving parts and equipment, painting and coating parts
  • Cleaning and maintaining parts and equipment, and providing routine assistance and support
  • Moving totes, parts, and equipment using a pallet jack
  • Communicating with production, maintenance, quality control, warehousing, and other departments to maintain a safe and effective environment and to ensure quality products
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:
  • Must be able to work overtime with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English
Preferred:
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Some previous painting or coatings experience using air and electronic spraying equipment is highly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
  • Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
  • Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
  • May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
  • May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
  • May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
  • Work surfaces may include concrete.
  • Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.
  • Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
  • Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.
Other:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Manufacturing environment and will be subject to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, and loud noises.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Painter Helpers may be required to pass a spirometry test.

Required:
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, quality control, and other departments to maintain a safe and efficient environment and to ensure quality performance of product and parts, such as: - Complete all necessary paperwork associated with managing the paint line - Ability to understand and follow instructions - Ability to monitor and report paint line performance communication via written line sheets, verbal and written shift performance reviews, verbal and written quality performance reviews, verbal and written productivity reports
  • Following health and safety principles and practices;
  • Ability to read and understand MSDS sheets;
  • Ability to read and understand posted notices and signage;
  • Ability to understand announcements made over the paging system;
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers to provide and receive direction;
