Mechanical Designer - Piping 1
Job DescriptionThe Mechanical Designer - Piping 1 will be responsible for designing and developing piping systems for power generation and heavy industrial facilities. This role requires proficiency in 3D modeling and detailed mechanical design, including the preparation of P&IDs, pipe routing, and support design.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and Development:
  • Develop piping designs based on project requirements, including pipe routing, piping arrangements, isometrics, and material take-offs.
  • Prepare and check P&IDs and piping schematics.
  • Utilize AutoCAD (2007 or later) and AutoPLANT for 3D modeling and design work.
2. Technical Expertise:
  • Perform fieldwork to gather measurements and data for accurate design and layout of piping systems.
  • Select appropriate power piping components and design pipe supports.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, codes, and project specifications.
3. Project Coordination:
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering teams, clients, and construction personnel.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery of designs.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews and provide technical guidance during design reviews.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical and piping design, specifically in power generation or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (2007 or later) with a focus on 3D modeling, and experience with AutoPLANT.
  • Experience in preparing and checking P&IDs.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, including pipe routing, selection of piping components, and pipe support design.
  • Ability to take accurate field measurements and create detailed mechanical piping drawings.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience with power plant piping design is preferred.
Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of additional design software such as SolidWorks or PDMS.
  • Familiarity with SmartPlant tools and the ability to customize and automate design processes.
  • Previous experience with plant layout and plot plans, cost estimation, and vendor package supervision.
