JOB SUMMARY:

The Cook I will assist the Lead Cook and Executive Chef with food preparation, menu execution, and delivering our Hospitality Promise of the Best Food, Best Service, and Best Hospitality for the performance of food catering operations based in Chicago.

This person must have a strong knowledge of large prep work, batch cooking, and organizational standards. They will be responsible for working with a team and be able to work independently.

This is a great opportunity for someone who desires to work in the performance food space, cooking for professional athletes in the MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS, and rugby. Your food will fuel these world-class athletes to succeed and win

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules
  • Ensures quality food service is provided at all times
  • Tastes all prepared food items
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat
  • Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers
  • Assist in inventory
  • Hold themselves and others accountable and to high standards
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 4 + years experience in a professional kitchen
  • Ability to work with a team and independently
  • ServSafe food handlers certification and allergen certification
  • A working knowledge of catering
  • Excellent knowledge of kitchen equipment and good knife skills
  • Strong creativity, desire to learn, and interest in building healthy meals with lots of flavor
  • Ability to develop, document, and follow recipes
  • Ability to lead self and others
  • Ability to follow the direction of the Chef
  • Ability to organize themselves and others
  • Experience working with recipes and production sheets
  • Experience placing orders
  • Experience taking inventory
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Spanish language fluency is a plus
WORK SCHEDULE:
  • Able to work non-standard work week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays
