Maricopa County Correctional Health Services (CHS) seeks an enthusiastic Staffing Specialist to join our team The Staffing Specialist provides centralized staffing coordination and support for all clinical nursing positions. This position performs administrative tasks relative to daily staffing and scheduling needs. The Staffing Specialist ensures each clinic has the required number of nursing staff in attendance for each shift to provide quality patient care. Our Nursing Team is integral to fulfilling our mission of providing medically necessary, evidence-based, integrated health care to patients as they proceed through the judicial system.

We Require
  • Three years of clerical office experience handling phones, filing, and scheduling
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
  • Associate degree or higher
  • Staffing experience of at least 200 employees
  • Staffing experience in a healthcare facility
  • Experience setting staff schedules
Job Contributions
  • Answers phones, interacts with voluminous nursing staff and staffing agencies, receives voicemails
  • Processes schedule changes due to absences, floating, overtime, shift swaps, and other modifications
  • Distributes a wide variety of email correspondences to relay absences, floating, urgent needs, and staffing summaries at the conclusion of each shift
  • Distributes various clinic schedule reports daily: Block-book, clinical orientation/shadow shifts, confirmations, registry rosters, and urgent needs
  • Maintains the Shared Mailbox for all email correspondences while ensuring all incoming items are processed and filed to indicate completion
  • Processes various forms: Float, Overtime (OT), Shift Swaps, and Registry Exemption, and updates the scheduling system accordingly
  • Performs Clinic checks to ensure floated staff arrived as planned and outreach for urgent needs during critical Staffing Levels
  • Redirects staff to float to other clinics to ensure each clinic has the required number of nursing staff in attendance for each shift to provide quality patient care
  • Attends Huddle Meetings, Critical Staffing Meetings, and Nursing Leadership Meetings
  • Collaborates with other divisions: CHS Education, CHS Finance, CHS Human Resources, and CHS Onboard
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership
Working Conditions
  • Must successfully complete a fingerprint/background check with Maricopa County Sheriff's Office
  • A valid, unrestricted Driver's license
  • Must be able to work inside a jail
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and read for a long period of time
  • Frequent changes, unscheduled tasks, and interruptions may occur
  • Must be able to handle multiple, complicated tasks and perform with accuracy with short deadlines
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team
