Job Description:
Responsibilities:
  1. Fund Accounting: Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting activities for alternative investment funds, including NAV calculation, fund valuation, expense accruals, income recognition, and reconciliation of cash, positions, and transactions.
  2. P&L Reporting: Prepare and analyze daily profit and loss (P&L) reports for investment portfolios, including attribution analysis, performance metrics, and variance analysis, to assess fund performance and identify key drivers of returns.
  3. Valuation Analysis: Assist in the valuation of investment positions and portfolios using various methodologies, including market comparebles, discounted cash flow analysis, and option pricing models, to determine fair value estimates.
  4. Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, investor reports, and regulatory filings for alternative investment funds in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, and other applicable accounting standards, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  5. Reconciliation: Reconcile trade activity, positions, and cash balances between internal accounting systems, prime brokers, custodians, and fund administrators to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  6. Risk Management: Monitor and analyze fund performance and exposure to market, credit, and liquidity risks, identify potential risk factors and issues, and communicate findings to portfolio managers and senior management.
  7. Audit Support: Assist in the coordination of audits and examinations by external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities, including providing supporting documentation, responding to inquiries, and resolving audit issues.
  8. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting and reporting processes, implement best practices and efficiencies, and enhance controls to mitigate risks and improve accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  9. Client Servicing: Interact with investors, fund administrators, prime brokers, and other external parties to address inquiries, provide information, and ensure timely and accurate delivery of reports and statements.
  10. Ad Hoc Analysis: Perform ad hoc financial analysis, research, and special projects as requested by senior management, portfolio managers, or other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; CPA or CFA designation is preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in fund accounting, financial reporting, or related roles within the financial services industry, preferably with exposure to alternative investments such as private equity, hedge funds, real estate, or venture capital.
  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting principles and practices, financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS), and financial analysis techniques; experience with accounting software and systems (e.g., Advent Geneva, Investran, SunGard, Bloomberg) is a plus.
  4. Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex financial data, perform valuation analysis, and interpret financial statements and reports.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information and analysis to internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team and build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and external service providers.
  7. Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and develop creative solutions to complex accounting and reporting challenges.
