About the Position

As the Air Quality Inspector, you will conduct inspections of various sources to determine compliance with air quality laws, rules, and regulations to ensure that sources are operating in conformance with legal and permitted requirements.

Job Contributions- Inspect and investigate dust sources, industrial, and commercial air pollution sources, and related control equipment for compliance with air quality rules and regulations, prepare inspection reports and associated documentation- Respond to citizen complaints to determine if violations of rules exist- Review a variety of facility records, perform air quality tests, and prepare enforcement documents- Advise and educate the public and industry about environmental air quality issues, regulations, policies, safety, and compliance- Evaluate reporting data to determine the compliance status of facilities/sites- Review and comment on proposed permit conditions for applicability and enforceability

Working Conditions- Work will occur in an office and field environment.

While performing the duties & responsibilities the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire- Must be certified as a Visible Emissions Evaluator by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality within six months of hire- May be required to pass a physical examination Subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor, ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel Some inspections/observations/complaints require working occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Work outdoors during periods of high temperatures, including days when temperatures exceed 110° F
