Working Conditions

Travel, to include, overnight stays may be required. This position is located within an office setting in Rancho Cordova.

Mechanical and Technical Occupational Trainee is a non-testing temporary appointment class. It is designed to provide persons an opportunity to develop skill which will facilitate their permanent entry into State service.

  • The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter. Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving state public assistance under the CalWorks program. Applicants who receive state public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWorks recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWorks showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWorks Program.)
