  • Job Title: Penetration Tester

Overview:
Responsible for identifying exploitable application and system vulnerabilities, collaborating with Technology, Cybersecurity, and Risk teams to address these weaknesses. Conduct penetration testing for various platforms and environments while designing tests, gathering intelligence, preparing reports, and maintaining tools for testing and red team processes.

  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform penetration testing for web applications, APIs, hardware, mobile, networks, and cloud setups.
  • Design penetration tests including scope, goals, and methods.
  • Utilize advanced tactics to collect intelligence.
  • Generate and summarize assessment reports for remediation purposes.
  • Develop and update tools and scripts for testing.
  • Establish strong relationships with Cybersecurity and Technology teams.
  • Collaborate on threat identification, tool enhancement, and process refinement.
  • Recommend improvements to penetration testing processes and implement enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with risk and regulatory standards.
  • Promote a diverse work environment in line with M&T Bank values.
  • Maintain internal control standards and address audit points.
  • Undertake other job-related tasks as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:
Regularly interact with internal departments and management including Audit, Compliance, Risk, and Technology. Exercise discretion in determining assignment objectives with minimal supervision.

  • Requirements:
  • Excellent knowledge of Cybersecurity principles.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Experience in information assessment and risk management.
  • Proficiency in identifying system vulnerabilities and conducting assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Cybersecurity.
  • Extensive understanding of information security concepts.
  • Intermediate knowledge in various security domains and tools.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technical skills strategically.
  • Experience in training penetration testers and relevant certifications like CEH, OSCP, or equivalent.
