Hennepin County's Grants Management and Administration department (GMA) is seeking a Project Manager to join our team. This position will lead strategic development and project management for the organization's grant management and administration functions. As the organization moves toward a federated model for managing/administering grants, there is a need to effectively formalize and operationalize grant functions. This position will also work across the organization to help establish an infrastructure for effective grants management and administration. The purpose of the position is to ensure grants are managed and implemented equitably and effectively in a manner that responds to the needs of the communities and complies with the state, federal, and local laws.Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed at the Government Center, 300 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487 and remote as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
About the position type: This is a full-time, benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of the Grants Management and Admin department to apply for this position. Limited duration employees are not eligible. This position is internally classified as an Administrative Assistant, Principal.

In this position, you will: Respond to and resolve organizational and interdepartmental issues. Oversee projects that have interdepartmental wide impact. Lead grant projects that cross several departments, such as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funding opportunities. Define and evaluate the GMA Office's goals and objectives. Strengthen the GMA Office's resources, processes, and communication tools such as Sharepoint sites, presence in county newsletters, leadership channels, and other mechanisms. Obtain feedback and respond to concerns and develop solutions in collaboration with other departments and staff. Support and advance priorities that invest in disparities reduction, eliminate inequities, and create opportunity for all. Assist in setting and organizing grant priorities for the organization. Serve as the subject matter expert for grant research for the county. Lead and facilitate stakeholder meetings to ensure consistency, collaboration, and coordination across the organization. Lead and facilitate an organization-wide committee grants strategy group and conduct research on grant opportunities for the organization. Need to have:
One of the following:Nine years or more of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position. Note: General administrative work is defined as the administration and/or management of programs, policies, and/or budgets. Bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, or other field appropriate to the position and five years or more of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position. Nice to have: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Lean Six Sigma Green or Black belt certification. Experience coordinating and managing grants and projects. Ability to:Facilitate discussions and collaborate with all levels of business and technical staff.Problem solve with a process improvement mindset.Manage individual and team performance to achieve organizational results. Effective communication and customer service skills. Establish and carry out effective working relationships with employees, other professionals, agencies, and the public.
