Job Description

Join our Team as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Your main responsibilities will include evaluating and executing potential student-athlete recruiting in line with NCAA rules, individual skill development, on-floor teaching, and scouting upcoming opponents. You will also assist the head coach with various tasks such as budgets, campus duties, and travel arrangements.

One of the key aspects of this role is embracing and embodying the University's 'Greatness Through Virtue' whole-person development model. Additionally, candidates should actively demonstrate their commitment to supporting the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Recruiting potential Student-Athletes
  • Developing student athletes' skills in academics, social aspects, and more
  • Assisting the Head Coach with program-related activities such as recruitment, game preparation, coaching, scouting, and NCAA compliance

Qualifications include:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Preferred Masters' degree
  • Prior coaching/playing experience at collegiate level or higher
  • Experience as an Assistant Coach at the collegiate level preferred
  • Alignment with the University's mission and values
  • Support for the principles of Catholic colleges and universities
  • Establishing a welcoming environment within the Athletics department and the university

Knowledge and Skills include:

  • Familiarity with 'Greatness Through Virtue' strategies to nurture Scholar-Athletes
  • Proficiency in the game, coaching, and talent evaluation
  • Passion for transformative coaching
  • Interest in mentoring and leading young women
  • Commitment to spiritual development guidance
  • Dedication to recruiting and fostering talented players
