COTSWORKS seeks an Inside Applications Engineer to support our unique and growing Mil/Aero market for in-house designed and manufactured optoelectronic products and solutions.

The Inside Applications Engineer supports the pre- and post-sales design of COTSWORKS' transceivers and cabling into our customers' products. The individual in this role serves as a liaison between COTSWORKS and its customers focusing on customer relationships, engineering, and operations where integration or advanced support is required. The individual in this role works independently and collectively with the Inside Sales, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams, using sound judgment and discretion when addressing and resolving customer needs. This full-time, salaried position reports to the Senior Director of Product Development and works onsite at our Cleveland-area office. Due to classified work at our facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain U.S. citizenship (No Green card or Visa) to be considered for a position at COTSWORKS, INC.

COTSWORKS, INC. designs and manufactures rugged optical components and subsystems to operate in harsh environments. Products are utilized worldwide in commercial and military aerospace, tactical, oil and gas, and other industrial markets. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility produces over 100,000 mission-critical rugged optoelectronic and interconnect products yearly. The company maintains a quality program with ISO 9100:2015 + AS9100D Certification and ATEX Compliance.

Your tasks may include the following:

  • Provides daily support via phone, email, and in-person visits, to address and resolve customers' technical questions related to COTSWORKS products.
  • Documents and produces reports containing customers' information and requirements (e.g., contacts, projects, status, etc.) to keep the sales team informed of customer needs.
  • Facilitates translating ideas into drawings, BOMs, and other customer-facing materials.
  • Assists with PCNs, RMAs, and web support documentation.
  • Assists in the occasional manufacturing of small parts for customers as needed.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining data sheets, MRD, and project plans.

Qualification requirements include:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, communications, and/or technical sales required.
  • Experience in a business and manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Experience in electrical and optical parameters of optical transceivers, optical networking, transmission protocols, and networking is preferred.
  • Experience using standard engineering tools and applications (CAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Excellent computer skills and high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, etc.) and other standard office tools.
  • Proficient in analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient organizational, time management, and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively in a multi-task, fast-paced environment.
  • Highly skillful in writing, verbally communicating, and presenting to various audiences.
  • Highly customer-oriented and can build relationships while working collaboratively across diverse groups and functional areas.
