Position Summary

The People Experience Lead at Empower embodies our core values of people, quality, service, and innovation by overseeing the execution of our Human Resources Service Delivery Model. This position ensures that our human resources practices are not only efficient and effective but also fully compliant with the highest standards of regulatory frameworks. As the People Experience Lead, you are instrumental in driving continuous improvements and delivering compliant solutions that support the growth of a positive company culture and enhance employee satisfaction.

In this role, you provide essential day-to-day performance management guidance to people managers, including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions. Your deep expertise in Human Resources (HR) policies allows you to offer guidance and interpretation to both employees and managers, ensuring that our practices are consistent and reflect the latest in compliance and best practices. Your ability to manage and resolve complex employee relations issues through effective, thorough, and objective investigations further underscores the critical nature of your position within Empower.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for executing the Human Resources Service Delivery Model which includes driving continuous improvement through providing efficient, effective, and compliant solutions.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions).
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation to employees and managers and makes best practices recommendations while ensuring compliance throughout the organization.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations thereby reducing legal risks. Partners with the legal department as needed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations and recommended best practices.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Oversees and responsible for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) claims process and regularly conducts audits with the 3rd party administrator to ensure timecard and payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Administers Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) interactive process to include initial conversation with employee, reviewing medical certification, evaluating requested/recommended accommodations, partnering, and communicating with department leadership and Safety Dept. to determine reasonable accommodations, and writing determination letters to employees.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, escalating as needed to the appropriate staff.
  • Supports the implementation of human resources initiatives and programs.
  • Supports the process of constructive and timely performance evaluations, and annual compensation reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of core human resources disciplines with emphasis on leaves of absence, corrective action, performance management, employee engagement, retention, and employee relations.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong working knowledge of employment laws, including but not limited to, Title VII, ADAAA, FMLA, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) regulations to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Proficient in interpreting and applying the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Skills-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or University (Human Resources or Business preferred).
  • 5- 8 years of Human Resources experience with an emphasis on employee relations and coaching entry level leaders.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
