Private Events Sales AssociateMaymont is a 100-acre historic estate and park, located in Richmond, Virginia, with many unique experiences for all to enjoy, including the historic Maymont Mansion, The Robins Nature Center, arboretum, formal gardens, and habitats for native Virginia wildlife and farm animals.
Since 1975, Maymont has been maintained and operated by the nonprofit Maymont Foundation, committed to creating experiences that delight, educate and inspire its guests.
The Maymont Foundation is seeking a Private Events Sales Associate.This is a temporary, contract position expected to begin August 2024 and end December 2024 with the potential of long-term employment upon completion.
The Private Events Sales Associate ensures understanding of rental clients' vision, coordinating logistics, negotiating contracts, and providing exceptional service throughout the process of reserving private rental spaces.
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Special Events and Event Sales.Essential Functions:
Develop, maintain, and engage with a list of potential and current clients while actively developing new sales leadsRespond to verbal and written inquiries for information about Maymont's rental facilitiesPromote and market rental facilities through in-person appointments and venue toursCorrespond with clients to confirm reservations, initiate prompt payment, and/or make special arrangements as requested or required; communicate those needs with managementGenerate standard reservation contractsAssist with compiling detailed activity reports to include: bookings, cancellations, deposits, payments, and leadsMaintain templates, event records, files, client databases and event supply inventoryWillingness to support Maymont's community events as needed, which may occur outside of regular work scheduleAssists with other duties and tasks as assigned

Highly organized, self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills and a passion for salesKnowledge of principles, methods, and practices involved in event facility sales and managementAbility to identify and isolate problems and to initiate appropriate actionsExcellent customer service and interpersonal skills with considerable ability to communicate effectively with the publicAbility to interpret and explain Maymont policies, rules, and procedures to the publicAbility to communicate clearly and effectively with considerable ability to prepare and present accurate reportsAbility to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organizationWorking knowledge of the wedding industry and corporate event industry preferredWorking knowledge of personal computers and various software applications; Event Temple experience preferredAbility to pass a background checkValid driver's license required with reliable transportation to/from MaymontEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in the hospitality industry, public relations, or closely related field preferredMinimum 2 years of experience in sales and special events or any equivalentWorking knowledge of the Greater Richmond Region preferred
Physical Demands:
