Hiring for Assistant Director of Compliance - Department of Athletics at Georgetown University

Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, the Assistant Director of Compliance plays a key role in coordinating, planning, and managing all aspects of a Division I NCAA compliance program for 30 varsity sports, athletics staff, university representatives, and external stakeholders. This entails educating, monitoring, and enforcing rules and regulations set by the University, Big East, Patriot League, and NCAA.

Just like all coaches and staff members, this role holds responsibility for maintaining the integrity of Georgetown's intercollegiate athletics program and upholding the university's reputation.

Key responsibilities include providing rules education, creating educational materials, certifying eligibility, overseeing visits, managing compliance reviews, and ensuring NCAA certification compliance.

  • Collaborate with various campus groups and the Georgetown community to implement a robust compliance program
  • Oversee recruiting documentation and season records
  • Complete NCAA paperwork, such as squad lists and sports sponsorship documents
  • Work with the Athletics Business Office to review expenses and ensure adherence to NCAA rules
  • Act as the main contact for the Housing Office, Admissions Office, and Campus Bookstore within the department
  • Supervise office interns' tasks for a beneficial experience
  • Assist in managing NCAA reporting and student-athlete reinstatement processes, as well as academic waivers as required
  • Engage in special projects when needed
  • Develop and implement programs and policies to ensure compliance with NCAA and league regulations regarding eligibility
  • Investigate and report violations, interpret rules, and educate stakeholders about compliance implications
  • Conduct audits to ensure adherence to policies and regulations, recommending corrective actions as necessary
Collaboration and Working Environment

The Assistant Director of Compliance reports to the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and works closely with the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, head coaches, assistant coaches, and athletic administrators.

Additionally, this role interacts with various campus departments, including Student Financial Services, University Registrar, Admissions Office, Resident Life, and the Book Store.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, with at least 1 year in NCAA Division I compliance environment and ideally campus experience
  • Proficient in LSDBi, Eligibility Center, and Compliance Assistant, experience with compliance software programs like ARMS, ACS, JumpForward a plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
Desired Qualification
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Publisher
  • Familiarity with University and Department philosophies, policies, and regulations
