Boulder, Colorado, United States Splunk Full time
Splunk is here to build a safer and more resilient digital world. The world's leading enterprises use our unified security and observability platform to keep their digital systems secure and reliable. While customers love our technology, it's our people that make Splunk stand out as an amazing career destination and why we've won so many awards as a best place to work. If you become a Splunker, we want your whole, authentic self, what we call your "million data points". So bring your work experience, problem-solving skills and talent, of course, but also bring your joy, your passion and all the things that make you, you. Role Summary Splunk is looking for interns for Summer 2024 As a Software Engineer in Test intern, you will work on a real project (or a few) and have an opportunity to enjoy our dynamic, startup-like environment. You will experience Splunking and what defines our culture while honing the skills which separate our development teams from others. Working to support internal and external customer needs, you will collaborate with multi-functional teams, receive mentorship, and gain insight into our values-driven process. Our goal is both to support your growth and development while empowering you for a successful start to your career. You will get to work with smart and hardworking individuals who are doing state of the art development work (native mobile, front-end and back-end, DevOps) in areas of machine learning, data analytics, infrastructure and event correlations across silos to build best-in-class business analytics software. You will be interacting with product management and customers to understand detailed requirements. What you'll get to do
  • Craft effective testing tools, test frameworks, and processes to help increase engineering productivity.
  • Use technologies like Splunk, Pytest, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and much more to deliver continuous quality software to our customers.
  • Become familiar with our existing projects and work on a variety of features and bug fixes to improve these technologies and engineering frameworks.
  • Write effective code to add or modify test tooling, testing frameworks, and write automated test cases using the latest technologies.
  • Reproduce defects in your local environment, integration environments, and write code to fix the bugs and release new versions of the tools.
  • Establish effective communication and forge relationships with engineers, who use our testing tools and frameworks, to identify issues, gather test requirements to verify bugs, new features and feature enhancements.
  • Make an impact through your recommended modifications to processes and procedures, and directly contribute to standard methodologies, architecture, and implementation.
Must-have Qualifications
  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field, and a strong record of academic achievement
  • At least one semester/quarter remaining to complete after the internship
  • Available to work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks

  • Ability to unit test your code using appropriate tools and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts, large-scale software architecture, networking and distributed systems, and UNIX/Linux, Windows, and MacOS environments.
  • Proficient in one or more of the following programming languages including but not limited to Python, Javascript, Go, C++, Java.
