Core engineers assume a major role in the product development organization - we are responsible for having commodity expertise that allow delivery with quality. We own the standards that progress the designs and control the supplier build, while maintaining a history of all the best practices that are applied across all global designs. We are charged with meeting and exceeding both our internal and external customer expectations with regard to fit, function, and finance.

What you'll do...
- Lead control arm and suspension bushing supplier technology and design requirements meetings to guide the supply base on their new technology roadmap and design requirement progression for future Ford products.
- Be the critical "go-to" technical resource for problem solving in quality investigations, Field Service Investigations, launch issue resolution, and new product development.
- Ownership and expertise in FMA (Failure Mode Avoidance), Safe Launch, Quality Operating Systems, reliability, and robustness documentation of control arms and bushings.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) sign off for TDR (Technical Design Review), TVM / MCR (Material Cost Reduction), SREA (Supplier Request for Engineering Authorization), CDR (Compliance Demonstration Report)).
- Benchmark competitor and internal control arms and bushings to drive efficient technical solutions that lead the industry in optimized designs.
- Develop control arm and bushing technical standards, design rules, requirements, test methods, engineering. specifications, prevent actions and all corporate memory related to control arms and bushings.
- Coach, Mentor and Train members of the Global Suspension Department in control arm and suspension bushing development.

Minimum
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or similar.
- Minimum of 2 years core engineering or design and release (D&R).
- Self-starter who can learn to use new tools and find solutions - ability to troubleshoot & fix vehicle problems.
- Motivation to bring new technologies from concept to production in a short time.
- Outstanding leadership and written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with FMA and related quality assurance processes.
- Familiarity with structure, welding characteristics and elastomer bushings.
- Experience in supplier management and cost negotiation.
- Experience with complex systems, analysis tools & methods.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience using CAD, prefer Teamcenter (TcE).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in using Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint for presentations and Minitab for data manipulation.
Preferred
- Experience in suspension preferred but not required. Additional experience in Chassis Systems Engineering, Vehicle Integration, Manufacturing, and/or Vehicle Engineering is a plus.
- Experience with control arms and bushings
- Demonstrated experience of effective supplier management.
- Demonstrated ability for technical understanding and leadership
- Demonstrated leadership skills in teamwork, prioritization, and project management.
- Passion for zero defects, passion for customer, high energy, drive for results and openness to learning.
- Experience with CAE and road load analysis
