Job Title: R&D Technical Program Manager at Commonwealth Fusion Systems


Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about advancing fusion energy technology to combat climate change. Collaborating with MIT, CFS is at the forefront of developing high-temperature superconducting magnet technology to revolutionize fusion power plants construction, making them faster and more cost-effective.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage medium to large-sized technical projects in the R&D division focusing on fusion devices and superconducting magnet systems
  • Lead test planning efforts, coordinate with collaborators, and ensure proper analysis to predict testing results
  • Coordinate cross-department communication, mentor engineering team, and manage project resources and relationships with external collaborators
  • Drive system-level purchases, grow and lead a team of engineers, and manage R&D consultants

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or applied science
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project/program management and technical project development
  • Proficiency in project/product management tools, system-level design, and clear communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and autonomy

Preferred qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in engineering
  • Experience in government proposals, cross-functional team management, and complex engineering projects
  • Capability to work in varied environments, ensuring safety and dedication to mitigating industrial hazards
