Description

The Lifeguard will ensure swimmers' safety in the lake area and administer first aid or lifesaving techniques when needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the rules and regulations of the waterfront are followed to maintain a safe swimming environment.
  • Administers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and uses automated external defibrillator (AED) when needed.
  • Contacts emergency medical personnel when a serious injury occurs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer or use first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques.
  • Excellent observational skills.
  • Ability to enforce waterfront regulations and rules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must possess the following certifications from the Red Cross or other equivalent agency: lifeguard training, CPR, AED, and first aid.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be a skilled swimmer and able to pull weight through the water.
  • Must be physically able to rescue someone drowning or injured in the water.
  • Prolonged periods of being outdoors.
