Job Summary
The Director serves as an integral part of the Stevens Doctoral Program Office team, with a focus on academic, professional, wellness and career support and oversight of the Joint Program in Financial Economics.
The Director will manage all aspects of academic, professional, mental health/wellness support, and student resources provided for by the Stevens gift, including strategic planning, overseeing, and advising on new initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Manages all aspects of academic, professional, mental health/wellness support, and student resources provided for by the Stevens gift, including strategic planning, overseeing, and advising on new initiatives. Research and implement new support resources. Manages all relationships with campus partners and outside contractors, including establishing new relationships and negotiating contracts.
- Develop effective communication and outreach strategies for Stevens Doctoral Program students regarding new program initiatives. Seek student feedback and maintain an awareness of student concerns and needs. Adapt programmatic offerings as needed.
- Organizes annual Alumni Insight event including coordination with faculty advisors, outreach to invited alumni guests, student promotion, conceptualizing an effective plan for the schedule of events, and overseeing staff and logistics on the day of.
- Manages one employee who administers the Joint Program in Financial Economics. Provides leadership and guidance on all Joint Program in Financial Economics and University current policies and deadlines and advises on upcoming changes to program policies. Works with the Assistant Director to ensure that all students meet academic milestones.
- Provides leadership and guidance for quarterly convocation processes and procedures and the annual June convocation event.
- Provides ongoing advising and coaching for students. Serves as a resource for Stevens Doctoral Students who seek support on academic success/study skills, teaching and pedagogy, building strong working relationships with faculty mentors, and other aspects of navigating the program. Coordinates with the Associate Dean as appropriate to support students.
- Manages all aspects of the Pichler Initiative for Professional Development, implements regular programming and events that prepare specific student cohorts for the next step in the Doctoral Program and beyond.
- Updates and implements a daylong TA training and orientation workshop, introducing new modules (e.g., inclusive teaching) as needed. Creates, updates, and maintains online archive (Canvas site) of teaching materials for current
- Booth PhD students to use on demand. Offers expanded electronic resources to accompany and enhance all programming.
- Develops updated academic job market workshops on a range of topics, preparing for the academic job market, CV workshop (offered twice each year), and student mock interviews, as well as additional job market panels to cover markets outside North America. Expands offerings to provide more tailored resources for the varying job markets and job market timelines. Continues expansion of nonacademic job market preparation panels, chats, and workshops.
