Job Description: Lab Training Supervisor at Berkshire Health Systems

  • MAIN FUNCTIONS
    • Provide training and ongoing education to outpatient lab phlebotomy/registration staff, focusing on billing and coding. Continuously enhance the quality and relevance of outpatient registration processes and test ordering. Supervise and guide all outpatient lab phlebotomy/registration and test ordering for the organization and external drawing stations. Assist in resolving issues related to billing and coding compliance, particularly with Medicare regulations. Educate staff on registration updates, billing, and coding requirements. Collaborate with other department managers to address their needs and streamline outpatient lab services. Address and rectify staff issues as necessary. Train new hires in outpatient lab registration procedures and provide continuous education to current staff.
  • QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum requirements unless otherwise specified)
    • Experience:
      • Proficiency in registration, lab test ordering, coding, and billing is essential. Familiarity with lab, admitting, B/AR, and Medical Records Meditech modules is preferred. Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and personnel. Proficiency in computer skills, preferably with Meditech.
    • Education and Training:
      • High school diploma required, college courses are a plus. Knowledge of HIS/LIS systems is necessary.
    • License, Certification & Registration:
      • N/A
    • Other Requirements:
      • Must be well-organized, analytical, and demonstrate strong leadership abilities. Capable of handling stressful situations calmly and making rational decisions under deadline pressure. Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed. Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously, proficient in problem-solving and decision-making. Previous experience in teaching, training, or supervision is advantageous. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal relationship abilities, are essential.
