This position requires a deep understanding of SQL database structures, principles, and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in database design, development, and optimization and will be instrumental in improving our database systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases and related applications.
  • Implement complex and efficient SQL queries for data manipulation and retrieval.
  • Optimize database systems for performance and reliability.
  • Analyze and modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
  • Test and implement database design and functionality. Troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and system architects to integrate databases with other applications.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior SQL developers in their daily tasks.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Document database development processes, procedures, and changes.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in SQL database development.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server, MySQL, or other relational database management systems.
  • Experience in data modeling and database design.
  • Proven track record of optimizing large complex SQL statements.
  • Experience with ETL processes and database integration.

Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in SQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and reporting software.
  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python, Java, or C# is a plus.
