The Founding Physical Education Teacher will have the following key responsibilities:

+ Provide a strong foundation of learning and achievement for scholars in K-5.

+ Provide TEKS-aligned physical education lessons to scholars in K-5.

+ Enforce classroom management procedures and protocol.

+ Create and maintain an inclusive classroom environment that values high expectations and character development for every child.

+ Provide consistent and clear high academic and behavioral expectations.

+ Perform duties during non-academic times (arrival, breakfast, lunch, recess, and dismissal).

+ Assist with grading and data analysis.

+ Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.

+ Participate in feedback, coaching, and professional development sessions.

+ Implement formal and informal fitness assessments to track each individual student's progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly.

+ Communicate students' fitness progress with student and family on a weekly basis

+ Enhance students' disposition toward leading a physically active lifestyle

+ Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.

+ Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education program.

Required Qualifications

+ Associates degree required, bachelor's degree preferred.

+ Deep alignment with the school's mission and core values.

+ A staunch belief that all students regardless of race or socio-economic status can achieve at high levels and be positive contributors to their communities.

+ A successful background check in compliance with state law.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all school stakeholders.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
