About the Annual Giving Specialist Role
The Annual Giving Specialist plays a vital role in advancing The Museum of Flight's mission by establishing and overseeing a comprehensive annual giving program aimed at attracting and retaining a core group of philanthropic individuals through focused outreach efforts. Responsibilities include overseeing direct mail appeals, online donations, and strategic stewardship initiatives in collaboration with the Development team. This position calls for strategic thinking, a results-oriented approach, and success is measured through data-driven analysis and donor engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Here are some of the important tasks associated with this position:
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to devise and implement targeted direct mail and digital fundraising strategies that align with organizational goals, such as community giving events.
- Lead the development of stewardship materials, donor engagement activities, and customized donor segmentation based on various criteria.
- Work alongside the Senior Communication Specialist and Membership team to craft a cohesive communication plan that enhances the transition from member to donor.
- Enhance and oversee recurring donation programs by expanding participation, ensuring accurate data management, and delivering donor benefits effectively.
- Manage tribute programs, including soliciting contributions, organizing unveiling events, and coordinating related activities.
- Support the cultivation and stewardship of annual donors within the organization's pipeline.
- Assist with annual budget forecasts and provide detailed progress reports to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct additional tasks as needed based on research and analysis.
- Undertake any other assigned duties.
Education & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is desirable.
- Three (3) or more years of progressive experience in fundraising, non-profit memberships, or marketing within the non-profit sector.
- Experience in donor outreach and segmentation is advantageous.
- Familiarity with philanthropic giving practices and fundraising best practices.
- Basic understanding of fundraising analytics and donor database operations.
- Demonstrates outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong presentation abilities.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with donor databases, with knowledge of Raiser's Edge being a bonus.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies for diverse donor groups.
- Self-motivated and independent, with a keen eye for detail and a global perspective.
- Capable of building strong internal and external relationships.
- Able to communicate The Museum of Flight's mission, vision, and impact clearly to align with donor interests.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage complexities, and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Innovative approach to problem-solving, receptive to new ideas, and willing to test and implement improvements in processes.
- No specific license or certification required.
The work environment outlined below pertains to the role's key responsibilities:
- This is a full-time exempt position with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm.
- Flexibility for extended hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.
- Regular on-site presence is essential for performing the duties associated with the role.
- Some travel may be expected as part of the job requirements.
The physical demands expected for this role include:
- Occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds, with or without assistance.
- Typical office conditions apply, involving repetitive movements and prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Various physical activities like bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, walking, and twisting may be required occasionally.
The Museum of Flight provides full-time staff with an extensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision coverage, flexible spending accounts, and a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% match after one year of service. Additional benefits include life insurance, Employee Assistance Program, Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage, and long-term disability support.
Paid Time-Off
Benefit from 2 weeks of sick leave, 2 weeks of vacation (80 hours each) annually, 10 paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is between $68,000 and $84,000, depending on experience.
