Behavioral Health Tech - Rover at Arizona State Hospital

Job Summary:
This exciting position comes with a $5,000 hiring incentive. As a Behavioral Health Technician - Rover, you will work closely with Registered Nurses to provide physical and psychological care to psychiatric patients. Your responsibilities will include monitoring patient activities, assisting with daily living tasks, and responding to medical or psychiatric emergencies according to hospital policies.

This role offers a dynamic work environment with rotating schedules and opportunities for personal and professional development.


Job Duties:
- Supervising patient activities, social skills, and assisting with various tasks
- Participating in care team activities and implementing treatment plans under supervision
- Monitoring and documenting patient behaviors, mood changes, and physical health status
- Escorting patients to clinical referrals and outings
- Responding to medical and psychiatric emergencies, using approved interventions
- Maintaining safety and security for patients and staff
- Coordinating with supervisors for required clinical oversight
- Supporting patient rights and promoting a compassionate work environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
- Proficiency in mental health principles, therapeutic interventions, and behavioral management techniques
- Ability to respond to emergencies and follow instructions accurately
- Skills in providing paraprofessional nursing care, therapeutic interactions, and documenting progress notes
- Commitment to diversity, equal opportunity, and creating an inclusive work environment

Selective Preference(s):
  • One year of direct patient care experience, especially in behavioral health settings
  • Preference given to candidates with prior Public Health experience
