POSITION DUTIES

Patuxent Institution is a maximum-security state prison designed to provide remediation programs and services to male and female incarcerated individuals based upon current best practices.�The\r
Psychology Associate Doctorate, Correctional position is the doctorate,\r
unlicensed level of professional work that is performed under the supervision\r
of a licensed psychologist.�The main purpose of this position is to provide direct psychological services to incarcerated individuals in one or more programs.�\r

Such services may include, but are not limited to, the following:\r

\r
Conducts risk assessments, diagnostic assessments, and other types of psychological assessments as assigned\r
Provides direct psychotherapeutic services to incarcerated individuals to include cognitive-behavioral group psychotherapy, individual therapy, and crisis intervention\r
May engage in research-related activities, supervision and training of unlicensed members of the psychology staff, and administrative supervision of other professional and clerical employees\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Doctorate degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university in a program acceptable to the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists.\r
Experience:�None.\r

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Prior to probationary appointment, candidates for this classification must meet all selection standards as set forth in the Code of Maryland Regulations by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission.� Candidates who receive a probationary appointment must satisfactorily complete a prescribed training program prior to permanent appointment. Selection standards of the Correctional Training Commission may be obtained from the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. \r
