Job Summary: U.S. Forensic is on the lookout for highly proficient and driven Professional Engineers with expertise in Structural or Mechanical Forensics. The ideal candidate will assume a crucial role in examining and evaluating structural failures, construction flaws, incidents, and significant damages resulting from severe weather occurrences. This role demands a solid foundation in either structural or mechanical engineering and the capability to offer expert testimony as needed.

Duties:
  • Conduct thorough forensic inquiries into structural failures, collapses, and construction flaws
  • Carry out on-site inspections and gather pertinent data to support forensic evaluations
  • Apply engineering principles and methodologies to analyze and evaluate structural concerns
  • Prepare articulate technical reports delineating discoveries and decisions that are court-worthy
  • Present expert testimony in legal proceedings when necessary
  • Keep abreast of industry advancements, codes, and standards linked to structural engineering
Requirements:
  • Must hold a valid P.E. license (or eligible by reciprocity) in the relevant state with an active NCEES record
  • Preferably possess 2+ years of experience in forensic engineering, though exceptional P.E.s keen on learning forensics will be considered
  • Able to fulfill the physical demands of the role, including outdoor work and occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions
  • Capable of working in confined spaces, walking on roofs with appropriate safety gear, handling ladders, and using equipment like man lifts
  • Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally as required, occasionally at short notice
  • Adept at working autonomously and collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals
  • Strong project management abilities with the capacity to oversee multiple case files
  • Excellent technical writing skills and proficient verbal communication capabilities are essential.
  • Comfortable engaging with clients face-to-face, delivering exceptional customer service
  • Proficient in basic office software
  • Experience as an Expert Witness is advantageous
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions
Education:

Minimum requirement of a Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. A Master of Science in Structural or Mechanical Engineering is highly desirable.
