Job Title: Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor

This position offers the opportunity to participate in the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a program that helps with student loans. To be eligible, certain requirements must be met and the application submitted within four months of starting.

Approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office upon review of the EDRP application.

Responsibilities:

  • Intake screening and assessment
  • Readjustment counseling goal setting and service planning
  • Direct readjustment counseling service provision
  • Risk assessment and crisis intervention
  • Care coordination
  • And more...

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm; some evenings and weekends may be required based on the needs of the Vet Center.

Telework: Maybe Authorized

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's or doctoral degree in a related field from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs
  • Licensure: Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice independently as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor

Grade Determinations:

  • GS-9: Entry-level for those with less than one year of experience
  • GS-11: Requires at least one year of post-master's or post-doctoral degree mental health counseling experience
