Reports to Director, Cultural Enrichment
Distinguishing Features of the Class:
The Adult Services Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, executing, and evaluating adult programming that meets the community's needs.
Works with different community organizations and outside vendors to bring in speakers and presenters, both virtually and in-person. Assists in promoting the collection and services through creative displays, bibliographies; print/online marketing. Organizes and publicizes a wide variety of weekly and monthly adult programs, including the KM Community Garden and local author fair.
Contributes relevant material to the Library's web presence, including creating new and original content for library social media.
Tracks program attendance, circulation, and other data to guide decision-making and identify service needs.
Prepares monthly reports and contributes to the annual State Library Report. Identifies and recommends services and products for the Library. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with community and library organizations and agencies, library vendors, and representatives.
Completes special assignments related to adult services and contributes to marketing, communication promotions, and regular communications to patrons. Provides readers' advisory service and works the Adult service desk as scheduled executing all circulation and reference tasks as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of library procedures, methods, materials, and practices.
- Read English and sort in alphanumeric order.
- Know the Dewey Decimal System.
- Working knowledge of library collections, reader's advisory, library circulation procedures, and research skills.
- Ability to learn new technology and equipment, apply this to job duties, and train others on its use.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, establish and maintain priorities, meet deadlines, exercise initiative, and make independent decisions.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and the ability to work with co-workers professionally.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform various physical tasks and possess the visual acuity to maintain records, read book spines, count monies, and operate a computer. Work is primarily indoors, though some programming is off-site.
- Desirable Training and Experience: Bachelor's Degree with a preference for candidates with a Masters in Library Science; minimum two years of library experience required with preference for considerable library experience.
